Figure 1. Reflection

Communication is the art of imparting information by speaking, writing or using some other medium (“Learner’s Dictionary,”2018). The course Communication in Professional Context has taught me a lot most especially in the context of essence of correct spelling and communicating with confidence.

These two are the things that will help me in the future as I will pave my way through my studies and to my future career as a business manager as it helped me to realized that in business communication the little errors and mistakes such as spelling error and grammatical error truly counts and matters in the real world of business.

The unit has taught me the importance of spelling and its role in conveying the right message in written form such as email, letters and memos and this learning will not only help me in my future career but also throughout my studies in the university as it made me fully aware to be cautious of my spelling and grammar in all my assessments and writings.

Spelling is a part of the communication that the writer may sometimes disregard but often impacts the way the receiver comprehends and receive the message and how the writer would portray himself/herself to the receiver (Surber, 2018) because a receiver does not want to receive a message filled with misspellings and wrong grammar (Lesikar, 2005).

Aside from realizing the essence of spelling, the unit has also boost my speaking confidence in front of the public. Every week in this unit we have a short role play or a short period where each of us is able to speak in front and this is the part in every class meeting that I truly enjoy most as it builds up my confidence and my speaking skills. It has taught me to conquer my public speaking nerves and to stay calm during my speech.

Throughout the unit and as it continually progresses  the course has gradually help boost my self confidence in both writing and speaking which is what I needed the most to become a successful manager and student in terms of communication.

Blog 3. Protect wildlife for future generations

Figure 1. Wildlife

Earth is a gift from our creature. We living in it should protect it and nurture everything in it. But apparently everything is on the contrary as we have failed to protect our wildlife and had put our animals in extinction.

The animal extinction crisis has been going in Australia since 2009 starting with the three vertebrates (bat, marsupial and skink) that has gone extinct in spite of the efforts put together to eliminate extinction (Australian Conservation Foundation 2018). But what can we really do? As an ordinary citizen we can do a lot, we can start by becoming part of the movement and sharing a dollar from our blessings to donate to the government and private bodies which are exerting all efforts to save these creatures by protecting and  conserving their habitat and enforcing legalities to better help the animals.

Video 1. Protect wildlife

ACF health ecosystem campaigner Jess Abrahams, blamed federal government for failing to protect the critical wildlife. Jaya, M (2018) stated that:  “Our current law provides patently inadequate protection to prevent the destruction of critical habitat”. Additionally he stated that: Jaya, M (2018) “that without proper protection beloved species could well be extinct within a few years”.

We need to fix the system in order to protect the habitat, we need to ensure there is more left to see for the future generation because what would the future would look like for them? Our children and our children’s children have the right to see everything that has been provided for us which we have no right to ruin and destroy in the first place.

Let us act soon! Wherever we are, whoever we are, regardless of color, of race and religion let us join together as one and act as one. Let us not let mother nature and its creation die. Let us become responsible inhabitants of the earth.

Blog 4. Talk like a pro. A guide towards Professional Communications

biz-communication
                 Figure 1. Communication

Professional Communication is communicating on behalf of the organisation (Cenere, P., Gill, R., Lawson, C., Lewis, M., 2015). In relation to my area of study, true enough to these words in the world of business specifically in management an effective communication is essential for all managers to carry out the primary functions such as planning, organising, leading and controlling. Because how could one communicate with their subordinate to achieved the organisation’s goal? Nevertheless, controlling your business and the business organisation can never become possible without written and oral communication. There are different types of communications existing in the professional associations  one of which are the above mentions in the form of email, memos, hand outs, reports and meetings and their are different strategies that can be used by organisations to interact in according to the type of the audiences (Flores, 2012).

Within an organisation all essential information necessary for business operation is communicated to the managers who  in return creates a plan and then communicate to everyone in order to implement them and this is how communication serves as the most important part of business management. Lets point out some communication skills that is needed by a manager  so to succeed in all managerial tasks and surpass all trials and issues in relevant to the business and the organisation.

Figure 2. Communication Skills.

  1. Win-win conversation – In application to professional communication this term means that all parties involved within the shared situation has equal and complete decision that is beneficial to everyone involved.
  2. Emotional intelligence – This skills is all about emotions, how you control your emotions and how far you allow your decisions to affected by your emotions (Cenere, P., Gill, R., Lawson, C., Lewis, M., 2015).
  3. Presentation skills – the ability to deliver a presentation to various audiences in a very effective and influential manner including the areas of tone of your voice, body language conveyed, design of the slides used for the presentation and the structure of presentation (UBCWiki, 2018).

In order for a manager to achieve their career goals good communication skills is essential and plays a pivotal role towards perfected performance so a manager should build essential writing, speaking and listening skills that can be reliable throughout his/her career (Bell, A.H., & Smith, D.M., 2006).

Blog 2. Powerful Ads to stop, look and think about; Audience, Message, Noise and Context.

social-advertisement-powerful-ads-11

Figure 1. Save Paper – Save the planet

One of the advertisement that has touched the minds of millions of people and got them to think and worry about mother nature is the save paper – save the planet ad by Saatchi & Saatchi advertising agency of Copenhagen, Denmark.

According to the Learner’s Dictionary, The definition of audience is the people who watch, read or listen to something (“Learner’s Dictionary,”2018) and an effective advertisement clutches the audience’s attention and leave a mark on their mind that gets them to think. This advertisement has effectively communicated to its audience by inflecting awareness to people regarding the environmental issue and raise support for a change with significance.

In terms of message the Save Paper –  Save the planet ad has top billed in message conveyance. The mere image has visually transmitted a message that has affected the audience decision to not waste paper to help save the environment.

What is noise? It is the opposite of quietness and tranquility and it is something we do not like.  But if we talk about noise in advertisement, noise is anything that distracts from your message which is caused by too many message (Erickson, 2018). Save paper, save the planet ad is a perfect example of a noiseless advertisement. It contains less words but powerful enough to impact the minds of the reader.

Generally, in all advertisement what matters is how you deliver the ad and shape it towards a context with a highly favorable responds. I for one would not like to watch boring or confusing ads on tv and media streams and find something relatable as my preferences. The response of an audience towards an advertisement can be propelled by a collaboration of an argument and pictures, and ads containing this context is highly effective and persuasive (Teng, L., et.al, 2014). In this term of context is how the makers of this ad has hit the jackpot. It pointed out interaction and the ad is containing culturally congruent picture and so it elicited positive responses to its public.

An ad with a bang, creates an enticing buzz that is not noise. It is an advertisement with a perfect message that targets people of all ages.

Blog 1. The power of three in business communication; spelling, grammar and presentation.

481496863-612x612

   Figure 1 Communication

Communication is not merely about talking, you do not just open your mouth and utter the words because communication is about empowerment (Cenere, et.al, 2015). In business industry it is essential to communicate properly, effectively and professionally in order to give the right and intended message, to do so one should correlate spelling, grammar and presentation altogether and use it as the key element to create the perfect business spiel.

Spelling is a part of communication that expresses the impression of how well the writer has spent time with the message (Surber, 2018). A receiver surely does not want to read a message like business email, office memo and application letters full of spelling error as it will surely distract them and miss the point of the message (Lesikar, 2005). So prior sending out your message make sure to proofread your writing for the correct spelling so as not to regret sending an erroneous one.

 Figure 2 Grammar Peeves

Without a doubt one of the most important tool of communication is grammar. With a correct grammar a person can express themselves successfully. Structure your message carefully and use indention properly because in business a person with a poor grammar portrays not a good impression towards other people particularly in business meetings and professional presentations.

Lastly but not the least is presentation. It is about persuading your audience to accept your piece of work and explanation and a good presenter should exude confidence which is essential during meetings and business discussion because being well presented in presentations is essential to both client and colleague and paves way towards career advancement. Therefore prior the day first plan your audience, dress the part, be organised and make it interesting.

After all  (McLean, 2018) said “Presentation skills and public speaking are a “learnt” skill – by working on these skills, the quiet and shy person can learn to present with confidence and evidentially “Find their voice””

Why is the power of three important?’

These three is the groundwork of effective communication with all of these combined you can write with enhanced accuracy and polished good impression.

Tips!

Before you do any writing and presentation make sure to examine your piece and check for  grammatical errors and plan well on how you will intend to deliver the message and evaluate yourself thoroughly before the big day.

Plan and prepare is the ultimate key then get a grip on your nerves!

Hey it’s me!

Hi there,

Just call me Yang and I decide my vibe. I am writing this with a shy grin on my face. LOL! Any who, I would describe myself as a wall flower, a compassionate person who strives not to be a center of success but rather to be a value.

(Laetitia Casta,2018) has once quoted “Real beauty is to be true to oneself, That’s what makes me feel good.” and this is what exactly how I say who I am when asked to describe myself.

FIG. 1 Happiness

In case you guys want to know. I love to cook as much as i love to eat, I enjoy travelling to places where there are pristine beaches and I love taking photos of my family and the natural wonders that God created. A simple woman is who I am with simple aspirations and dreams in life.

Hey its me, I enjoy life and stay happy!

Lots of love,

Yang
